Jiten on the new album: "The vocals come from Tips through Kiss Records. One day I started receiving ADATS of the original masters, and I was like, wow!  So, I started up work on the album"
WITH the release of BMW – The Bollywood Connection, Toronto’s DJ Jiten gives his mercurial touch to some of Mumbai’s biggest hits of
the past 12 months. Following in the footsteps of his previous releases – the BMW (Bad, Mad and Wicked) collection, Around the World, Big
Boom, and about 15 other remix albums – Jiten has managed to spin his album to audiences all over the U.S. and Canada including such
cities as L.A., Houston, Miami and New York.
As a prominent member of North America’s fast-moving DJ scene, how does Jiten feel the scene has developed?
“For me, I’ve been in it so long, I’ve been able to grow with it. I was there in the inception of remixes and I’m still here now. I got to witness first hand the birth of a whole new scene and sound. And now
look where it’s come with the likes of Panjabi MC, Rishi Rich and others. It’s one of those things with the Asian scene, just when you think a barrier is broken and that is it, another gets broken. Right now, things are happening very quickly
and that’s great, but for me I think slow and steady wins the race.”
What’s next on your production schedule?
“Well, the Bollywood Connection was just, but I have some ideas for the next project already. Look for something in 2004.”
What do you think about Rishi Rich’s debut in the National charts?
“I think it’s great. I think the more the mainstream market listens to Asian music and lyrics, the more they will get accustomed to the difference
in sound and language. They will accept it more and more.”
Where are you playing live this year?

"All over Canada and the U.S., I have had many inquiries from Europe and Australia- trying to fit them into my schedule."
